Before joining RG Tax, Eershad gained professional experience as an auditor at Deloitte, one of the big 4 accounting firms before moving to BDO Solutions in the UK Audit Outsourcing Department.

At RG Tax, Eershad is responsible for Tax Compliance, Tax Audit and Litigations, Accounting & Related Services and Business Process Outsourcing. He is also responsible for the Training and Development of the workforce and acts as Human Resource Manager.

Mauritius has a self-assessment system of taxation whereby the tax authorities are empowered to put to scrutiny any tax return submitted by a taxpayer during a period of four years.

A taxpayer who has negligently failed to submit tax return or whose tax return has been subject to a tax audit can confirm the critical importance of tax compliance. The tax laws provide for heavy penalties and interest for failure to submit returns on due dates or failure to pay tax on the due dates.

Reshad  has substantial experience in dealing with cases of tax audit and litigations for local and offshore corporate clients engaged in a wide range of industrial, commercial and financial activities. He provides advisory tax services to corporate clients engaged in cross-border transactions, tax treaties; corporate amalgamation and restructuring and international tax planning, as well as devising lawful strategies to create and identify tax saving opportunities.

During the last fifteen years, Reshad  held key position in an accounting firm where he was responsible for the supervision of a team of junior tax staff engaged in tax compliance work for both corporate clients’ and individuals.

Prior to 2006, Reshad  worked as Chief Inspector of Taxes in the ex Income Tax Department, now the Mauritius Revenue Authority (“MRA”). During his tenure at the Income Tax Department, Reshad was posted to the Objection and Appeals Unit where he had to interact with tax professionals and lawyers practising in private firms. He was responsible for assisting state counsel in tax cases which were argued at the Assessment Review Committee.
